NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), Department of Energy U.S.A, is running a research project of developing a comprehensive high-throughput technique for assessing lipid production in micro-algae. NREL recently performed a lipid analysis of three Seambiotic's microalgae strains. The lipid contents on ash free dry weight (AFDW) are:Nannochloropsis sp. 37% Tetraselmis sp. 23% Nannochloris sp. 16% The fatty acid composition of the three microalgae indicates very high level of EPA in Nannochloropsis - 39% of total fatty acids.
